New chair, directors appointed to Greater Louisville Foundation Board

Louisville, Ky. (November 10, 2022) – Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) and its philanthropic arm, the Greater Louisville Foundation (GLF), announced new leadership and additions to their board of directors. GLF appointed Paul Costel, managing director and Kentucky region manager of JPMorgan Chase, as chair of the board of directors and Jill Horn, executive director of global community relations for the Brown-Forman Foundation, was appointed to the board as a director. Joe Ventura, chief legal officer of Humana, was appointed to GLI’s board of directors and executive committee.

“As a volunteer-guided organization that represents the business community, it is critical that our board of directors has representation from the top leaders at the top companies in our region,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “I am thrilled to welcome new leadership to both the GLI and GLF boards and am confident these leaders will provide unparalleled guidance and support to our work to grow the regional economy.”

Ventura previously served as the chair of the GLF Board of Directors and is filling the GLI board and executive committee seat vacated by Alan Wheatley, retail segment president of Humana, upon his planned retirement. He joined Humana’s Law Department in 2009, serving in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility. He was appointed senior vice president, associate general counsel and corporate secretary in July 2017, and served in that role until his election as chief legal officer in February 2019.

As a private, non-profit 501(c)(6) organization, GLI is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The executive committee of the board is made up of 11 elected members from the board of directors.

Costel, who has served on the GLF board since 2021 and previously served terms on the GLI board of directors, was appointed to fill the GLF Chair position, vacated by Ventura. He has worked for JPMorgan Chase for more than 30 years, serving in his current role for more than a decade and spending most of his career in commercial banking. In addition to his service to GLF, he has served on the board of various local philanthropic and economic development organizations including OneWest and the Louisville Downtown Partnership.

Horn was appointed to the GLF Board to fill Ventura’s vacated director position. She joined Brown‑Forman in 2014 and in her current role is responsible for leading Brown‑Forman’s civic engagement strategy including overseeing the Brown‑Forman Foundation. Prior to Brown‑Forman she worked for United Way for 19 years, where her most recent position was senior director of Community Giving.

GLF is a 501(c)3 organization that was formed in 1987 to identify, mobilize and fund programs to address Louisville’s greatest challenges regarding business growth, and increased economic prosperity for all citizens in the Greater Louisville region.  Currently, the GLF funds Live in Lou and GLI’s Workforce and Education Initiatives.
