August Ambassador Spotlight: James Wimsett
Name: James Wimsett
Title: Financial Analyst
Company: Merchant’s PACT
How long have you been a GLI Ambassador? About 3 months
What is your favorite part about being a GLI Ambassador?
Being given the opportunity to network with other business professionals and visit many different business locations across Greater Louisville. The venues and offices we visit all seem to be state-of-the-art and everyone I’ve come across is kind, driven, and passionate about what they do in our community and that is the type of circle I am proud to be a part of!
A fun fact about me is…
I was born in New Jersey, but the family moved back to KY when I was three months old. So I can promise you, I have the Kentucky accent and southern hospitality; the only thing really tying me to New Jersey is my SSN.
What is the best career advice you’ve received?
Be yourself, but challenge yourself. It is important to be your authentic self, but never get complacent because there is a stronger version of ‘you’ over that next hurdle.
What does being a GLI investor mean to you?
It allows you to expand your knowledge of what is happening – and more importantly, what needs to happen – within the Greater Louisville community to make it the most desirable place to live and find employment.
What is your favorite thing to do in Louisville?
I like to stay active and Louisville provides a lot of hiking trails, creeks/rivers to kayak, and sports leagues to join. My friends and I join different leagues so that we have something going on year-round; bowling in winter, sand volleyball spring into summer, kickball at the end of summer, and cornhole in the fall.
What do you do to make greater Louisville GREATER?
I graduated college and moved to Louisville two years ago amid the peak of the pandemic. While I promote and attend GLI events (which are many times, avenues to learn impactful business dynamics/solutions), I know there is much more I can do to make the community around me greater. Given my history and desire to volunteer, I am eager to get involved with an organization that gives back to the less fortunate in our community this fall.
