GLI board chair wins top volunteer award, chamber recognized for excellence in communications
Louisville, Ky. (September 29, 2022) – At the annual Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives meeting and awards dinner, Greater Louisville Inc. brought home two top awards. Purna Veer, 2022 Chair of the GLI Board of Directors and founder of V-Soft Consulting, was honored with the coveted ‘Volunteer of the Year Award’ and GLI received the 2022 ‘Excellence in Communications Award’.

GLI’s Rebecca Wood and Shelby Somervell join GLI Board Chair, Purna Veer, at KCCE Annual Awards Dinner in Lexington, KY.
As board chair and a long-time GLI investor, Veer has been involved with the chamber since 2004 and has served on the board since 2015. He previously served on numerous GLI committees, including the plan implementation committee which rolled out the NOW Louisville strategic plan in 2020, and chair of the 2020 GLIDE trip to West Louisville. In addition to his service to GLI, he runs multiple growing businesses, serves on the board of several other community organizations, and supports his family.
“Purna is a tireless advocate for the Chamber, speaking on our behalf and championing our causes. He has built a reputation for his outstanding character and leverages his relationships to elevate the profile of our organization,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “Purna’s leadership exemplifies the best qualities of a Chamber volunteer. He is our biggest cheerleader, advocate, and supporter and is most deserving of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives ‘Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award’.”
In addition, GLI also took home the award for excellence in chamber communications for its social media engagement through the Live in Lou initiative. Live in Lou was created in 2016 as a talent attraction initiative to showcase the amenities and opportunities to live, work, and play in Louisville. Dedicated staff of the GLI team generate and curate content that showcases neighborhoods, community events, and the people who make Louisville a great place to call home.
