Greater Louisville Inc. releases 2024 Metro Council Candidate Survey in advance of primary election

Louisville, Ky. (May 6, 2024) – With Kentucky’s primary election less than one month away, Greater Louisville Inc. released the results of its 2024 Metro Council Candidate Survey. While GLI typically conducts candidate surveys for general elections, many Metro Council races will be decided in the primary due to lack of opposition from opposing parties.

As a nonpartisan organization, GLI does not endorse candidates, but publishes surveys to help inform investors on where candidates stand on the business community’s priorities. More than 40 major party candidates running for 13 of 26 Metro Council’s seats that are up for election were given the opportunity to respond to this survey. All responses are published verbatim.

“A thriving economy depends on successful collaboration between business and government, particularly on the local level. That’s why we educate our members on where each candidate stands on top priority issues before they head to the polls,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “Thank you to each of the candidates who took time to fill out our survey and share their positions and plans to address key community issues like public safety, downtown development, and talent attraction.”

Questions in the survey touched on a variety of topics and top concerns of businesses, including:

  • Plans to increase LMPD officer retention and attraction
  • Ways to increase economic development for the region
  • Strategies for inclusive and equitable economic development
  • Plans to spur development and revitalization of Downtown Louisville
  • Positions on land development code reforms and increased flexibility for developers
  • Policies to address ongoing workforce shortages and population trends

All Metro Council Candidate responses are available here.

The Kentucky Primary Election is May 21, 2024 and no-excuse absentee voting will again be an option from May 16 – 18th at a number of locations. To find your election day polling place, click here.
