Greater Louisville Region Ends 2024 With Strong Prospects for Continued Growth

Louisville, KY (February 27, 2025) – In its latest Economic Summary Q4 Report, Greater Louisville Inc. details a strong finish to 2024 and an optimistic economic outlook for Greater Louisville in the year ahead. In 2024, 12 projects relocated or expanded in the region bringing in 555 new jobs and over $70 million in capital investment.

In addition to landing transformational projects, the GLI team also worked to proactively grow and diversify the regional project pipeline. At the end of 2024, the pipeline included 63 active projects representing a potential $3.3 billion in economic investment and 4,647 new jobs. These figures are conservative, as many companies do not disclose details until later in the process. Of the active projects, 38 are attraction projects and 25 are expansion projects. Notably, the pipeline includes nine potential business services projects. These projects were sourced through targeted outreach by the GLI team to ideal candidates for vacant office space in the region.

“2024 was undoubtedly a successful year for our regional economy. Despite ongoing economic headwinds and uncertainty, Greater Louisville is well-positioned to thrive in 2025 and beyond thanks to our strong diversity of industries and focus on innovation,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “We are keeping a close eye on ongoing pressures that threaten growth and continue to be the voice of the business community on all levels of government to mitigate potential negative consequences on our industries.”

Through the end of 2024, the U.S. economy continued to show strength, driven by steady employment and income gains, robust consumer spending, and rising productivity. Greater Louisville continues to closely mirror national indicators with an unemployment rate at 4.4% in the fourth quarter.

The Economic Summary report also includes data from GLI’s new Regional Economic Dashboard, which was created to track and compare economic performance. By setting baseline metrics, GLI will be able to closely monitor how Louisville is doing in comparison to other regions in areas that are key economic indicators like population growth, job growth, educational attainment, cost of living, and more.
