Greater Louisville Inc. Launches Program to Develop, Retain Interns

‘Finding You in Lou’ launches June 1 for college juniors and seniors

Louisville, Ky. (May 17, 2021) – Today, Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) announced the launch of a new program that will provide a comprehensive and immersive experience for local summer interns in the region. ‘Finding You in Lou’ is a four-week, cohort program open to current college juniors and seniors that are participating in a local internship in any field.

The program will focus on leadership development, professional development, network building with peers and community leaders, and showcasing Greater Louisville to emerging talent. GLI will coordinate both weekly development seminars and networking opportunities to connect interns with other driven young professionals and provide hands-on learning from local leaders.

To add variety to the curriculum, GLI partnered with the American Advertising Federation of Louisville, Leadership Louisville, the Urban League of Louisville, and the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL), who will provide content for the weekly trainings.

“We are thrilled to partner with other local organizations to bring this opportunity to our interns,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, President and CEO of GLI. “With rising workforce competition among employers, this program will ensure our region is attracting, developing, and retaining young talent for high-skilled positions. Our goal is to showcase why Greater Louisville is a top destination for new college graduates and how they can thrive here as young professionals.”

The program kicks off June 1 with a presentation from Ad2, the young professional branch of the American Advertising Federation – Louisville, on personal branding. Interested interns can learn more and register for the program here. Employers can also refer interns by contacting Manager of Workforce and Industry Programs, Tosha Ridenour.
