GLI’s ‘Finding You in Lou’ opens applications for immersive intern experience
Louisville, Ky. (May 4, 2022) — Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) opened applications for its second annual ‘Finding You in Lou’ program, a free professional and leadership development program that provides an immersive experience for summer interns in the region. The program is expanding after rave reviews from past participants and will offer two cohorts – one in June and one in July.
‘Finding You in Lou’ is a four-week program, open to current college juniors and seniors who are participating in a local internship in any field. The program will focus on leadership development, professional development, and network building with peers and community leaders. It also gives GLI the opportunity to showcase the quality-of-life amenities and opportunities that exist in Greater Louisville to emerging talent in an effort to keep them in Louisville post-graduation. GLI will coordinate weekly development seminars and networking opportunities to connect interns with other driven young professionals, provide hands-on learning from local leaders, and help them experience life in Louisville.
GLI partnered with several community organizations to create customized content for participants. The American Advertising Federation – Louisville will lead a session on establishing a personal brand, Leadership Louisville will provide tips on becoming a strong, professional leader, and the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) will talk about the importance of networking and give tips on building a network post-graduation. GLI’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department will also lead a session on overcoming implicit bias and proactive inclusion in the workplace.
“We are excited to partner with local organizations and utilize the strengths of our team at GLI to bring this invaluable opportunity to even more college interns this year,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “This program helps the talent of tomorrow experience the exciting professional and personal opportunities available in Louisville post-graduation by connecting them with peers, leaders, and the community.”
The first cohort launches on June 6, with a presentation from YPAL on the basics of networking. Interested interns can learn more and register for the program here. Employers can also refer interns by contacting GLI’s manager of talent outreach and engagement, Tosha Ridenour.
