GLI Launches Equity Toolkit, Partners with Equity Vested to Launch Inclusion Index

Both efforts complement Greater Louisville’s Racial Equity Pledge

Louisville, Ky. (June 2, 2021) – Today, Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) launched a robust toolkit aimed at equipping businesses who signed Greater Louisville’s Racial Equity Pledge with the resources they need to advance inclusion within their organizations and throughout the community. The toolkit directly complements the core principles of the pledge and is designed to help companies of all sizes live up to their commitment.

“Greater Louisville’s Racial Equity Pledge is for businesses of all industries and sizes. However, we know that our smaller businesses do not have access to as many resources to help them proactively prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion. This toolkit is a great way for business leaders to utilize community and national resources to make their workplaces and our community more inclusive and equitable,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, President and CEO of GLI.

The full toolkit is available here.

In addition, GLI has partnered with Equity Vested to launch an Inclusion Index to coincide with both the pledge and toolkit. The Inclusion Index will give businesses the opportunity to confidentially assess their inclusion efforts. It will produce a score that pinpoints the areas that need improvement and directs them to GLI’s toolkit for additional resources.

Businesses who signed Greater Louisville’s Racial Equity Pledge are encouraged to take the assessment initially and repeat annually to track their progress. Individual results will not be shared publicly but will be compiled into both community and industry-specific scores so businesses can measure their growth.

“We are proud to partner with GLI and launch this new tool to support local businesses who are making tangible efforts to advance racial equity,” said Tawana Bain, CEO TBAIN & Co, the parent company developing Equity Vested. “I encourage all businesses to utilize the Inclusion Index as a starting point and continue tapping into community resources to help on their journey towards a more inclusive economy.”

Greater Louisville’s Racial Equity Pledge launched in April and has 196 signers to date.  The core principles of the pledge include commitments to instituting formal diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, developing and empowering Black talent, supporting Black-owned businesses through equitable vendor spend, championing transparency, and building empathy through mentorship.

Companies can learn more and sign the pledge here.
