Sandra Frazier to be honored with Greater Louisville Inc.’s Gold Cup Award

Business community’s highest honor to be presented at GLI’s Annual Meeting presented by Baird

Louisville, Ky. (December 14, 2022) – Greater Louisville Inc. will present its most prestigious award, the Gold Cup, to local leader, Sandra Frazier. The Gold Cup is awarded periodically to recognize extraordinary individuals who represent lifetime leadership in making the Louisville area a better place to live and work. This year’s Gold Cup Award is sponsored by Brown-Forman Corp.

Among many titles and accolades, Frazier is the founder of Tandem Public Relations. She has over 25 years of public, community, and investor relations experience at both the corporate, not-for-profit and agency levels. In 2005, she founded Tandem Public Relations, a boutique public relations and communications firm.

“I am thrilled to honor my friend and long-time GLI partner, Sandra Frazier, with our 2023 Gold Cup Award. Sandra’s leadership, authenticity, and creativity epitomizes the best assets of our business community,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “Aside from her career accolades, Sandra is an incredibly generous philanthropist who wants to drive change in our community not for the recognition, but because she truly cares about making Louisville the best it can be.”

With over 20 years of community service, Frazier has served on the Board of Trustees at the University of Louisville, as a director of Brown-Forman Corporation and the Glenview Trust Company, on the executive committee of the Louisville and Southern Indiana Bridges Authority, and has served on the boards of 21st Century Parks, Greater Louisville, Inc., Kentucky Performing Arts, Leadership Louisville, and the Louisville Zoo among others.

“Sandra is a fixture in the Louisville community. Not only for her impressive business acumen and career accomplishments, but also for her service to the community in many volunteer leadership roles,” said Ed Glasscock, Chairman-Emeritus of Frost Brown Todd and 2003 Gold Cup Winner.

Created in 1969, GLI’s Gold Cup is the organization’s most prestigious award and has only been bestowed 24 times. The Gold Cup is not automatically presented each year but is awarded periodically in recognition of truly extraordinary contributions.  Previous Gold Cup recipients provide guidance throughout the selection process and must unanimously confirm a nomination. The most recent winners of the Gold Cup include Alice and Wade Houston, Bill Samuels, Junior Bridgeman, and Sam Swope.

“I’m honored to receive the Gold Cup Award.  The recognition is made all the more meaningful to me personally because many of the past recipients are leaders whom I have worked with over the years on community projects, and have provided guidance and counsel to me throughout my career.  I admire their many contributions to the community and am inspired by their acts of generosity and leadership,” said Frazier.

This year’s Gold Cup will be formally presented to Frazier at GLI’s Annual Meeting presented by Baird on February 1, 2023. Each year, the event is the largest convening of business in the region. In addition to the Gold Cup Award, five organizations will be presented with GLI’s Silver Fleur-de-Lis award, and the event will be keynoted by UPS’ executive vice president and president U.S., Nando Cesarone.
