GLI Board Welcomes New Executive Committee & Board Members

(Louisville, KY) – Greater Louisville Inc. would like to welcome two new members to the GLI Executive Committee and five new members to the GLI Board of Directors. These business leaders were officially voted into their positions on August 7th and October 11th, 2018.

Purna Veer, President of V-Soft Consulting, joins the GLI Executive Committee. Mr. Veer is a nationally recognized entrepreneur and business leader. As the Founder and President of V-Soft Consulting, he has led the company from its humble beginnings to employing over 1,300 global employees and is recognized as an up and coming leader in the field of IT services.

Charles Scholtz, Vice President & Associate General Counsel for Brown-Forman, is now a member of the GLI Board of Directors and Executive Committee.  He is a Louisville native, and a graduate of Williams College and the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. In his 25 years at Brown-Forman, he has provided legal counsel on international, corporate, production, and compliance matters, including serving as its Chief Compliance Officer.

Kevin Smith, Vice President of Kentucky Beam Bourbon Affairs for Beam Suntory, joins the GLI Board of Directors. Mr. Smith previously served as the Vice President of Production and Master Distiller for Maker’s Mark. He currently leads a diverse team of professionals focused on enhancing Beam Suntory’s corporate citizenship and represents the company in the public and legislative venues of Kentucky.

Additionally, three Representative Directors were selected:

Aimee Jewell, President of YPAL, is also the Employer Engagement Coordinator in the University of Louisville’s Career Development Center. She organizes the University’s career fairs and professional events for nearly 17,000 students and develops relationships with both local and national employers.

Karl Schmitt, President & CEO of the Louisville Sports Commission, is a veteran sports executive. He spent 20 years in management at Churchill Downs Inc. Mr. Schmitt also worked in the University of Miami’s Athletic Department as Director of Sports Information.

Glenn Sullivan, President & CEO of The Sullivan University System, has spent his career in higher education administration.  He previously served as Executive Vice President of The Sullivan University System and as a member of multiple local boards.

Greater Louisville Inc. is a private, non-profit 501(c)(6) organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of 47 voting members and 26 non-voting members. The Executive Committee of the Board is made up of 11 elected members from the Board of Directors. Officers of the Board include the Chair, Immediate Past Chair, Incoming Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.
