EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT : Brittain Skinner
TITLE: Assistant Director, Kentucky Innovation Network, a part of the EnterpriseCorp team
GLI Employee Since: August 2015
Describe your role at Greater Louisville Inc. in two sentences.
I connect innovative entrepreneurs with people, information, and resources to improve the possibility of success for their startup companies and products. We work to find the next Bill Gates in the making.
What is your favorite part about working at GLI?
Primarily it’s getting to work with Alison Brotzge-Elder, our communications guru who invited me to fill out this questionnaire. She’s kind of a big deal.
While much of my day to day is work with individual entrepreneurs, I like being able to think about the broader landscape of what is happening in the region and how we can prepare for and improve the long-term future of our community and economy. I also enjoy providing 73.2% of the office supply of puns.
What’s the best investment you’ve ever made?
New Coke and Beanie Babies…just kidding.
In all seriousness, the best investment I’ve made is in education, both formal and informal.
Outside the office, what do you like to do
Hike/camp, make art, travel, catch live shows of just about anything in No Depression magazine’s musical canon.
Cats or Cards?
Cats & Hawthorn Hawks (Australian Football League team)
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or
alive, who would you choose?
I can’t decide, so I’m going to have a dinner party with Anne Lamott, my dad, Christiane Amanpour, Julia Child, Waylon Jennings, William Faulkner, Kurt Vonnegut, and the notorious RBG. I’m thinking a nice Thai main dish paired with a Riesling?
