GLI CHAMPIONS NEW NURSE LICENSURE COMPACT LAW TAKING EFFECT JULY 1
As GLI works to position our bi-state region to be at the forefront of our nation’s health care solutions, regional health care companies and providers need to operate as effectively and efficiently as possible. Indiana joins Kentucky and 30 other states in adopting the interstate nurse licensure compact, House Bill 1344. This law will eliminate a burdensome layer of bureaucracy for nurses and hospitals alike, as Indiana’s new status in the compact will allow our region’s nurses to practice on either side of the Ohio River without having to acquire multiple licenses.
“From nurse workforce shortages to increasing access to care, this legislation will help cement the status of our bi-state region as at the forefront of modern health care delivery,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, chief operating officer and chief of staff for GLI. “We thank State Representative Ed Clere for his tremendous leadership on sponsoring this top GLI legislative priority and Governor Eric Holcomb for signing this bill into law.”
