Ambassador Spotlight: Beni Ivette López

Name: Beni Ivette López

Title: Business Relationship Manager

Company: JPMorgan Chase

How long have you been a GLI Ambassador? This is my first year as an ambassador.

What is your favorite part about being a GLI Ambassador? As a GLI Ambassador, I’ve had the opportunity to connect and engage with a diverse group of leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs and business leaders who share a common goal to keep our community and its organizations growing and thriving. JPMorgan Chase is incredibly focused on creating an inclusive economy – one that works for people from all backgrounds. It’s been an honor to represent both my company and the Hispanic community.

A fun fact about me is… I love traveling and I have visited more than 35 states and 23 countries, but it terrifies me to fly. The funny part is that I’m married to a pilot, my youngest son is a pilot and we own a small airplane.

What is the best career advice you’ve received? Be your authentic self and always present your best self. No matter what are your possessions in life or what you mean to others, your authentic self is your core and you have to stay true to yourself through your thoughts, words and actions. Those three have to match and complement each other to serve as our North Star. Both in your business and personal life, being honest, genuine and true to your self is key. Second – Always ask questions and never stop learning.

What does being a GLI investor mean to you? JPMorgan Chase is committed to creating more economic opportunity – through our business and philanthropic support. To me, this also speaks to the goals and mission of GLI. As a banker and ambassador, I feel a shared responsibility to empower, engage and support our community members to help further an economy that works for more people.

What is your favorite thing to do in Louisville? Like many in our community, I’m incredibly proud of our dining and distillery industry and truly enjoy supporting our local businesses. And like a true Louisville resident, Derby season is my favorite time of year. Watching our city blossom, people celebrate and come together really brings out the best of our diverse, collaborative community. It’s one thing that makes our city unique and I’m incredibly proud of the culture it’s created.

What do you do to make greater Louisville GREATER? After 15 years living in Louisville, I can officially say that I’ve become a “Louisvilian”. I’m always sharing how great our city is – from the culture, beauty, warmth and true Southern hospitality. Together, we can all come together to foster the values that represent Louisville. For me personally, volunteering and connecting with the diverse communities within our city is something I’ll continue to do to help keep Louisville a great place to live, work and play.
