Senate gives approval to GLI-backed USMCA
The U.S. Senate voted to approve the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement this afternoon, sending it to President Trump’s desk for his signature.
A top federal priority for GLI, USMCA will modernize its predecessor, the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, and bring much needed certainty to greater Louisville businesses. As an international logistics and manufacturing hub, free and fair trade is critical to economic growth in our region. Approval of USMCA by Congress will allow our economy to continue moving forward with full participation and engagement with international markets.
Throughout 2019, GLI aggressively advocated for passage of USMCA through letters, direct meetings with lawmakers, and making it a key focal points of GLI’s 2019 D.C. Fly In.
