Join a GLI Issue Advisory Committee!
GLI’s Health Care Issue Advisory Committee discussing policy with Sen. Julie Raque Adams (R-Louisville) in 2017.
A question that GLI’s Advocacy Team often gets is, how do we develop our stance on a public policy issue?
Our answer is always the same: GLI investors.
GLI vets issues and develops stances through a committee process, starting with our six Issue Advisory Committees: Bi-State, Business Competitiveness, Education & Workforce Development, Environment & Energy, and Transportation & Infrastructure. When creating our state and federal legislative agendas, for instance, the process begins with these six committees before proceeding to the Public Policy Council, a group made of up GLI Top Investors.
Service on our Issue Advisory Committees is open to all GLI investors and generally requires a commitment of just two meetings per year. Meetings to craft our 2018 Federal Agenda are expected to be held in March or April, while meetings for the 2019 State Legislative Agenda will take place in the Fall.
Join today and make your company’s voice heard in the public policy process. Read below to see what current committee members have to say:
- “If your company isn’t actively engaged in at least one GLI Issue Committee, you are missing out on opportunities to build new relationships, learn about public policy, and hear from business leaders and policymakers from throughout the region. Perhaps most important, however, you are not making your voice heard on issues that could prove critical to the future of your company. All GLI investor-companies should consider taking advantage of the opportunities offered by serving on an Issue Advisory Committee.” — Sherri Craig, Division Vice President, Public Policy at KentuckyOne Health
- “Serving on GLI’s Education and Workforce Development Committee has been a great way for UPS to become more involved with public policy both at the regional level in Greater Louisville and at the state level in Frankfort. We have also benefited from the networking opportunities and the relationships that we’ve developed through GLI’s committee process. I would highly recommend service on an Issue Advisory Committee to any GLI investor.” — Jeff Wafford, UPS Public Affairs Manager
