GLI urges Louisville Metro Caucus Legislators to support infrastructure funding
In a letter yesterday, GLI urged members of the Louisville Metro Caucus to support House Bill 517, a key bill that could pave the way for the future of infrastructure in our region. The bill provides for a much-needed increase in funding for infrastructure projects in the Commonwealth and finally modernizes the way that Kentucky allocates road-aid revenues to local governments. As we stated in our letter:
The new revenues raised by House Bill 517 could help address the growing backlog of infrastructure projects throughout our region and position Greater Louisville to prepare for and capitalize on future population and economic growth. Equally as important, the bill provides for a much-needed update to Kentucky’s road-aid allocation formula, which will allow our region to receive a more equitable share of local road fund revenues. These are long-term legislative priorities of GLI, and their passage in 2019 would greatly benefit our entire community.
Passage of legislation like House Bill 517 is one of the central reasons that GLI worked so aggressively in 2016 and 2017 to form the Louisville Metro Caucus, a bi-partisan group of legislators from the Greater Louisville region who can work together to solve some of our community’s most pressing issues. Secure and equitable infrastructure funding is an issue that should unite all lawmakers in Greater Louisville. We strongly encourage members of the Louisville Metro Caucus to fully support House Bill 517. Read the full letter here.
