Give us your feedback on the Sherman Minton Renewal Project
The Sherman Minton Bridge is an iconic feature of the Greater Louisville landscape. Since the 1960s, it has served as a vital link connecting our region across the Ohio River. Everyday, 90,000 drivers use the bridge. These include business owners, workers, customers, truck drivers, tourists, regular commuters, and more.
Because of the bridge’s importance to economic growth and regionalism in Greater Louisville, GLI has been working to ensure that the business community is able to help shape The Sherman Minton Renewal Project, a bi-state rehabilitation project that will affect traffic flows across the bridge in the near future.
The rehabilitation project will include the replacement or refurbishment of the bridge’s decks, structural steel elements and hanger cables, new lighting, drainage repairs, and painting of the steel components. According to the project website, the Sherman Minton Renewal will add 30 years of service to the life of the bridge.
GLI has been engaged with the project on several fronts, ensuring that the feedback and concerns of the Greater Louisville business community is effectively communicated to decision-makers and other stakeholders.
- GLI participates in the project’s Community Advisory Committee
- Members of the project team have met with GLI’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee
- Last November, we sent letters to officials at the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to share comments from GLI investors.
With the project continuing to evolve and take shape, GLI is once again encouraging members of the Greater Louisville business community to send feedback and voice their thoughts and concerns on how changes to traffic flow across the bridge could impact their business and our regional economy.
