Gear up for GLI’s Fall 2019 Issue Committee Meetings and the 2020 legislative sessions
With the end of summer around the corner, it is time to begin preparing for GLI’s Fall 2019 Issue Committee meetings and to start thinking about the 2020 legislative sessions in Frankfort and Indianapolis.
GLI’s Public Policy Issue Committees play a pivotal role in shaping the Greater Louisville business community’s legislative priorities and are at the heart of GLI’s investor-driven approach to public policy. GLI has six Issue Committees:
- Bi-State Issues
- Business Competitiveness
- Education and Workforce Development
- Energy and Environment
- Health Care
- Transportation and Infrastructure
The key job of these committees is to develop a first draft of GLI’s public policy priorities at the state and federal levels. This is the first step in a months-long process that eventually leads to the production of GLI’s state and federal agendas. The committees meet twice per year—once in the Spring to focus on federal policy and once in the Fall to focus on state policy. At upcoming committee meetings this month and in September, members will receive exclusive briefings from state legislators and policymakers and discuss some of the top state policy issues impacting Greater Louisville.
GLI’s Issue Committee meetings are great opportunities to network, engage in the public policy process, and learn about key issues. Most importantly, GLI’s committees give participants the opportunity to shape public policy and ensure the voice of the Greater Louisville business community is heard loud and clear in Frankfort and Indianapolis. All GLI investors are eligible to serve on an Issue Committee. Make sure your business is represented!
