DeVone Holt serves as an information resource for companies interested in expanding or locating
their operations in Louisville's inner city. In his role as the West Louisville Economic
Development Manager, DeVone works to (1) encourage new job creation and capital investments
among the companies in the area, (2) build stronger and healthier inner-city companies, (3)
increase wealth creation and prosperity among company owners and residents, and (4) connect
West Louisville businesses to the regional economy.
With a strong background in client relations and a keen interest in today's urban economic issues,
DeVone has been able to provide unique growth strategies for his business clients.
In 2004 alone, DeVone helped his clients create over 200 new jobs with new payrolls totaling
over $8 million. Those same clients invested nearly $80 million in facility enhancements, new
equipment purchases, and technology improvements.
Before joining Greater Louisville Inc. in 2001, DeVone worked in a variety of management roles.
Most recently, he worked as a Public Relations Manager for Darwin Networks, a high-speed Internet
access company. At Darwin Networks, DeVone's communication efforts helped the Louisville-based
Internet start-up raise $91 million in venture capital - the largest capital investment in any
private Kentucky business.
Prior to Darwin Networks, DeVone worked as a public relations representative for United Parcel
Service Airlines where he wrote media materials, coordinated publicity events and helped manage
the company's relationships with community organizations.
DeVone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and English from Eastern Kentucky
University. He plays an active role in the community by supporting several youth organizations
and is the author of the book "Hip-Hop Slop: The Impact of a Dysfunctional Culture."
He has also been awarded the Distinguished Citizen of Louisville Award and is a Kentucky Colonel.
