Local businesses recognized for fast-growth, achievement and entrepreneurial spirit

, the division of Greater Louisville Inc. that specializes in nurturing the region’s fast-growth entrepreneurial sector, has named its annual “Hot Dozen,”
twelve of the region’s most innovative up and coming companies.
The companies were honored at the “Hot Dozen” Showcase sponsored by Hilliard Lyons Investment Banking.
“As we kick off the week-long Idea Festival it seems appropriate to celebrate innovation with twelve of our region’s most innovative early-stage companies,” said Kent Oyler, President and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. “These Hot Dozen companies are poised for rapid growth and are joining the ranks of an impressive group of alumni.”
The “Hot Dozen” is chosen by GLI’s EnterpriseCorp, the Louisville office of the Kentucky Innovation Network. Louisville, KY (September 9, 2014) -Greater Louisville Inc. announced its opposition to the proposed ordinance to raise the minimum wage in Metro Louisville to $10.10 an hour by the year 2017. The ordinance filed on Monday, September 8 calls for the minimum wage to increase in phases over the next three years.
“GLI opposes a minimum wage increase at the local level that would only affect Jefferson County, putting our local businesses at a distinct disadvantage while potentially costing jobs and creating a disincentive to hire young people and other first-time job seekers,” said Kent Oyler, President and CEO, Greater Louisville Inc. “The business community believes all workers should be paid a fair wage, but it is important to understand the facts and the potential economic impact of a minimum wage increase at the local level.”
Each Winner Receives $20,000 Development Grant, Lean Start-Up Training and Mentoring
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—September 5, 2014– Officials from the Community Foundation of Louisville (CFL), Greater Louisville Inc.’s EnterpriseCorp and Mayor Greg Fischer announced today four winners of the 2014 Vogt Invention & Innovation Awards. The awards are designed to help start-up ideas and products develop into viable and successful businesses that will provide economic growth, stability and employment for the Greater Louisville area.
The Community Foundation’s Vogt Invention and Innovation Fund has supported the Vogt Awards for more than 14 years. In that time nearly $2.5 million has been given out to 50 companies. The program is administered by Greater Louisville Inc’s EnterpriseCorp, an economic development agency focused on entrepreneurial assistance.
The Vogt Awards, which have been presented for 13 years, are targeted specifically to the manufacturing and hardware sector and provide continuing education, mentoring and support for the early stage recipients. Applications were accepted through the spring and the Vogt Invention & Innovation Awards Selection Committee made the selections.

The 7-month comprehensive program is designed for participants to enhance business leadership skills, develop awareness of GLI’s vision and join a network of leaders committed to supporting GLI’s strategic initiatives to drive regional business and wealth growth. Annual awards recognize, celebrate and inspire small businesses
Louisville, Ky. (7/29/14) – Greater Louisville Inc. – the Metro Chamber of Commerce announced the finalists for its 2014 Inc.credible Awards presented by Strothman & Company earlier today at its Wake Up Wind Down breakfast.
The Inc.credible Awards recognize small businesses that are stimulating growth and innovation in the Greater Louisville region. Winners in six categories will be announced at the 2014 Inc.credible Awards Luncheon taking place Friday, September 12, at the Galt House.

Louisville, KY (July 14, 2014) – Greater Louisville Inc. announced today that Sarah Davasher-Wisdom will join the organization as Vice President, Government Affairs & Collaboration effective July 21. Davasher-Wisdom comes to GLI from the Tennessee Valley Authority where she served as the Government Relations Manager for the Kentucky District.
