GLI’s EntepriseCorp 2014 Hot Dozen Announced

Local businesses recognized for fast-growth, achievement and entrepreneurial spirit

Louisville, KY (9/29/14)  EnterpriseCorp, the division of Greater Louisville Inc. that specializes in nurturing the region’s fast-growth entrepreneurial sector, has named its annual “Hot Dozen,” twelve of the region’s most innovative up and coming companies. 

The companies were honored at the “Hot Dozen” Showcase sponsored by Hilliard Lyons Investment Banking.

“As we kick off the week-long Idea Festival it seems appropriate to celebrate innovation with twelve of our region’s most innovative early-stage companies,” said Kent Oyler, President and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. “These Hot Dozen companies are poised for rapid growth and are joining the ranks of an impressive group of alumni.”

The “Hot Dozen” is chosen by GLI’s EnterpriseCorp, the Louisville office of the Kentucky Innovation Network. These companies exemplify some of the high-potential work being done in the region’s entrepreneurial community. Past winners of the “Hot Dozen” include such stand outs such as StoneStreet One (recently acquired by Qualcomm),GlowTouch Technologies, Zirmed, Genscape and up and comers such as New2Lou, SuperFanU and Wicked Sheets.

Louisville KY (September 12, 2014) - Greater Louisville Inc. – the Metro Chamber of Commerce announced the winners for its 2014 Inc.credible Awards presented by Strothman & Company The 2014 Celebration of Small Business Luncheon held today at the Galt House, aimed to Recognize. Celebrate. and Inspire. small businesses in Greater Louisville. Annually, the event recognizes the best and brightest in the field. 

This year’s competition drew over 750 nominees and 117 candidates for the Inc.credible Awards. A panel of judges made up of regional business leaders reviewed the 6 respective categories and Greater Louisville Inc. is proud to announce the following winners:

Greater Louisville Inc. Opposes Proposed Local Minimum Wage Increase

Increase puts local businesses at a distinct disadvantage while potentially costing jobs and creating a disincentive to hire

Louisville, KY (September 9, 2014) -Greater Louisville Inc. announced its opposition to the proposed ordinance to raise the minimum wage in Metro Louisville to $10.10 an hour by the year 2017. The ordinance filed on Monday, September 8 calls for the minimum wage to increase in phases over the next three years.

 “GLI opposes a minimum wage increase at the local level that would only affect Jefferson County, putting our local businesses at a distinct disadvantage while potentially costing jobs and creating a disincentive to hire young people and other first-time job seekers,” said Kent Oyler, President and CEO, Greater Louisville Inc. “The business community believes all workers should be paid a fair wage, but it is important to understand the facts and the potential economic impact of a minimum wage increase at the local level.”

THE VOGT AWARDS SELECT FOUR EARLY-STAGE MANUFACTURING COMPANIES FOR RECOGNITION, FUNDING AND RESOURCES TOWARD COMMERCIALIZATION

Each Winner Receives $20,000 Development Grant, Lean Start-Up Training and Mentoring

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—September 5, 2014– Officials from the Community Foundation of Louisville (CFL), Greater Louisville Inc.’s EnterpriseCorp and Mayor Greg Fischer announced today four winners of the 2014 Vogt Invention & Innovation Awards. The awards are designed to help start-up ideas and products develop into viable and successful businesses that will provide economic growth, stability and employment for the Greater Louisville area. 

The Community Foundation’s Vogt Invention and Innovation Fund has supported the Vogt Awards for more than 14 years. In that time nearly $2.5 million has been given out to 50 companies. The program is administered by Greater Louisville Inc’s EnterpriseCorp, an economic development agency focused on entrepreneurial assistance. 

The Vogt Awards, which have been presented for 13 years, are targeted specifically to the manufacturing and hardware sector and provide continuing education, mentoring and support for the early stage recipients. Applications were accepted through the spring and the Vogt Invention & Innovation Awards Selection Committee made the selections.               

“Once again we are pleased to present an impressive group of winners,” said Susan Barry, president and CEO of CFL. “It is exciting to see the Vogt Awards portfolio grow each year with exciting ideas and innovation that will take us well into the future.”

GLI Announces “LEAD GLI” Class of 2015

Program Promotes Leadership, Engagement, Action, Development

Louisville, Ky. (August 5, 2014) – Greater Louisville Inc. announced today it has selected the LEAD GLI Class of 2015.  LEAD GLI is the business leadership program designed to ensure our community’s leaders understand the initiatives that drive regional economic development and are better prepared to be the future leaders of the business community and GLI.

The 7-month comprehensive program is designed for participants to enhance business leadership skills, develop awareness of GLI’s vision and join a network of leaders committed to supporting GLI’s strategic initiatives to drive regional business and wealth growth. Participants will learn and discuss opportunities and challenges shaping Greater Louisville’s business community such as business growth, entrepreneurial development, workforce and talent attraction, public policy & advocacy as well as hone their leadership and relationship building skills.

Greater Louisville Inc. Announces Finalists for the 2014 Inc.credible Awards

Annual awards recognize, celebrate and inspire small businesses

 

Louisville, Ky. (7/29/14) – Greater Louisville Inc. – the Metro Chamber of Commerce announced the finalists for its 2014 Inc.credible Awards presented by Strothman & Company earlier today at its Wake Up Wind Down breakfast.  

The Inc.credible Awards recognize small businesses that are stimulating growth and innovation in the Greater Louisville region. Winners in six categories will be announced at the 2014 Inc.credible Awards Luncheon taking place Friday, September 12, at the Galt House.

“Small businesses are the economic engine of our economy driving job and wealth creation. These nimble companies innovate faster and grow at a higher rate, accounting for over 80% of our region’s job growth,” said Kent Oyler, President and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc.  “GLI’s Inc.credible Awards are all about celebrating these small and growing entrepreneurial businesses for their contributions to the local economy and to the community."

Entries for the awards are judged on business and civic leadership, community involvement, management practices and overall financial performance by a panel of business leaders.

Sarah Davasher-Wisdom named VP, Government Affairs & Collaboration for Greater Louisville Inc.

Louisville, KY (July 14, 2014) – Greater Louisville Inc. announced today that Sarah Davasher-Wisdom will join the organization as  Vice President, Government Affairs & Collaboration effective July 21. Davasher-Wisdom comes to GLI from the Tennessee Valley Authority where she served as the Government Relations Manager for the Kentucky District.

"Sarah brings energy, professionalism and deep connections across all levels of government to her new role at GLI,” said Kent Oyler, President and CEO, Greater Louisville Inc.  “I'm confident that she will strengthen GLI's voice as the region’s business leadership organization and advance our collaborative partnerships".

In her role at GLI Davasher-Wisdom will lead GLI’s advocacy, public affairs, and government relations efforts as well as oversee GLI’s public policy issue committees. Additionally, Davasher-Wisdom will direct GLI’s strategic collaboration initiatives including representing the organization on various regional policy steering committees, task forces and coalitions.
