G.L.I.P. hosts a variety of events and activities throughout the year to retain focus on the issues and people involved in Greater Louisville’s international professional community.
After-Hours Networking events are designed as the in-person complement to our online community that give the opportunity to welcome new Louisvillians, meet committee members, country page ambassadors, mentors, protégés and G.L.I.P.s from all over the world, as well as local business professionals interested in global talent and perspectives. G.L.I.P also organizes a variety of social events where G.L.I.P friends and families can socialize and get to know one another in order to strengthen relationships within the community.

2009 - Past Events:
November 19: Debut Event: Guests learned more about G.L.I.P's important initiative, heard from local leaders with a global perspective and enjoyed the company of Louisvillians from around the world. Guest speakers included: Joe Reagan, President & CEO, Greater Louisville Inc., David A. Jones Jr., Chairman of the Board of Humana Inc. & Chairman and Managing Director of Chrysalis Ventures, LLC, Rishabh Mehrotra, President & CEO, SHPS, and Shin-je J Ghim, PhD, Assistant Professor, Dpt. of Medicine, James Graham Brown Cancer Center. Event hosted at the Humana building.

January 21: After Hours Networking : This event featured Daryl Snyder, Vice President of Economic and Community Development, Greater Louisville Inc.: "What G.L.I.P. means for Louisville's Economic Development” and Craig Greenberg, Developer and Vice Chairman of 21c Museum Hotels: "The Vision and Potential Impact of Innovative Projects like Museum Plaza and 21c". Event hosted at the Museum Plaza Office and sponsored by CORT.
March 18: After Hours Networking: This event featured Mark Crane, Sr. Vice President, Enterprise Development: "Finding and Building the Next Google!" and Rob Kaplan, Leadership Team Member, Net Impact Bluegrass: "Impact at Work Challenge ". Event hosted at The Green Building and sponsored by Frost Brown Todd.
April 12: 11th President of India Formal Banquet: During this prestigious and historic visit to Louisville, President Kalam shared the story of his presidency, his vision for transforming India into a fully developed global power by the year 2020, and the impact of that transformation on the rest of the world.
May 6: Louisville Bats Game: Friends and families joined together to watch the Louisville Bats take on the Rochester Red Wings at Louisville Slugger Field. Event sponsored by Papa Johns.
June 9: After Hours Networking : Guest speakers included Steve Wiser, historian and architect, who discussed Louisville’s signature architecture, public art and landscape landmarks which make the city one of the best places to live in the United States and Joanne Lloyd-Triplett discussed how Sister Cities works to create opportunities for Greater Louisville citizens and citizens of Sister Cities to work together in creating international community partnerships. Event held at Old National Bank and sponsored by The Tequila Factory.
Summer 2010: World Cup Event: G.L.I.P and Sister Cities of Louisville partnered with host sponsor Molly Malone's to celebrate the World Cup games from June 12-July 11.
July 15: Business at Breakfast : "Global Business - Expanding Markets and International Expansion". click for video - Moderator Julie Kredens, host of WFPL Radio’s “State of Affairs” program led panelists: Ted Nixon, Chairman/CEO, D.D Williamson, Chris Carmicle, President, Brown Jordan International, and David Flanery, SVP, CFO & Interim President of International, Papa John’s International on a discussion as to how their enterprises have created new opportunities in response to challenging environments. Hosted by Greater Louisville Inc., G.L.I.P. and Presenting Sponsor Stoll Keenon Ogden at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.
September 2: After Hours Networking: Guest speakers included Congressman John Yarmuth who discussed legislative updates regarding the attraction of investors through start-up visas, and Kris Kimel, President & Founder, Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation, talked about the IdeaFestival in Louisville September 29 through October 2. The after hours event also featured a complimentary viewing of the Kentucky Show! . The event was hosted at the Kentucky Center.
October 21: G.L.I.P., HLBC and Gold Sponsor UPS partnered to host a special event and welcomed a special guest. "UPS: A World Within Our Reach" featured keynote speaker: Griselda Hernandez, North Latin America Operations Manager for UPS. Guests had the rare opportunity to see the inside of the UPS Aircraft Hangar, network with local and international professionals and executives, learn about the local impact of UPS’s Worldport and its global reach, and sample ethnic food.
November 20: 2nd Puerto Rican and Friends Get Together: G.L.I.P. Puerto Rico Ambassador Nancy Torra organized a night of celebration for Discovery of Puerto Rico Day with Salsa/Bachata Lessons and DJ D/Ro (salsa, bachata, merengue, chacha, and reggaeton) following at Dance Louisville.
2011- Past Events
January 18: Over 250 G.L.I.P. members joined together to celebrate the one year anniversary of Greater Louisville International Professionals at the 2011 After-Hours Networking Kick-Off presented by Yum!. Guests heard from Joe Reagan, President & CEO of Greater Louisville Inc., and keynote speaker, Roger Eaton, President of KFC Corporation & Chief Concept Officer, Yum! Brands Inc. February 12: French Wine Tasting and Hors D'Oeuvres-60 international guests enjoyed an evening of fine French wine tasting that included three "Vins de France-from the Rhone Region", a short presentation about French Wines and culinary sampling of French hors-d'oeuvres from French Chef Louis.
March 23: After Hours Networking + Special Humana Festival Performance: Presented by Yum! Brands. This event was held at Actor's Theater and featured keynote speaker Jennifer Bielstein, Managing Director, Actors Theatre of Louisville as well as three actors from the performance "Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them": Cory Michael Smith, Jon Norman Schneider, and Teresa Avia Lim. Hors d'oeuvres provided by Chef Bruce from the Mayan Cafe .
April 8: G.L.I.P./YPAL Young Professional Social Event: G.L.I.P. and YPAL hosted over 315 young professionals who enjoyed a mix, dance and mingle night at SkyBar. Featuring hay DJ and performances by flamencotalk DANCERS, phresh style BBOY CREW and jawani DANCERS.
June 21: Greater Louisville Inc. with program partner G.L.I.P. held a panel discussion focusing on Global and International Business as part of the Business at Breakfast series. Panelists including Vidya Ravichandran, President, Glow Touch Technologies; Zack Scott, President, UPS Ohio Valley District and Kevin Lynch, Chief Operating Officer, AAF International, offered valuable insight to an audience of over 150 to help businesses become more profitable and productive in the global marketplace. July 23: G.L.I.P. Women's Resource Group Family Fun Day and International Potluck: Over 200 G.L.I.P.s and their families came out to Lyndon Elks Lodge Park for a day of fun and great international cuisine. Crane House and Los Monitos Language Center supplied the entertainment for the children while adults enjoyed music, eating, and a game of soccer.
August 10: G.L.I.P. with partners Talent Attraction Forum (TAF) and Hispanic Latino Business Council (HLBC) held a panel discussion on "Leveraging Diverse Talent in the Workplace". Attendees learned from a panel of experts about different strategies utilized to foster diversity when seeking professional talent. Panelists included: Ralph de Chabert, Chief Diversity Officer, Brown-Forman; Lillian Hunt, HR Manager- Legal, HR Compliance & Leadership Programs, GE Appliances & Lighting; A.J. Hubbard, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Humana; Tom Volta, VP Human Resources, UPS; James Fripp, Sr. Director of Global Diversity & Inclusion, Yum Brands!, Inc.
September 1: G.L.I.P. After Hours networking with keynote speaker, Raja Rajamannar, Chief Innovation and Marketing Officer for Humana. Raja Rajamannar shared his personal story as an executive from India, and his role driving innovations and international expansion at Humana. He is responsible for the company's innovation center, as well as its international businesses, marketing,strategic analytics, corporate communications and government relations organizations. November 5: 1st Annual European Soiree: G.L.I.P.'s Eastern European Ambassadors hosted an Eastern European Soiree to celebrate the heritage of Slavic cultures and people. The soiree included a full menu of traditional dishes and drinks, raffle prizes, exhibitors, a dance floor and live music by Eastern Bloc Mafia.
November 12: G.L.I.P./YPAL Young Professionals Event: G.L.I.P. and YPAL (Young Professionals Association of Louisville) partnered for the second Young Professionals World Party. Over 300 young professionals gathered at SkyBar for cocktails, dancing and music by DJ Dani.
December 1: G.L.I.P. After Hours networking with keynote speaker J. Lionel Ramirez, President & CEO, GE Lighting Latin America. J. Lionel Ramirez discussed his personal story, his travels around the world, including his current residence in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and his role driving GE Lighting operations in Latin America. Lionel is also the leader of GE's Hispanic Forum, and shared GE's growth in talent diversity. Appetizers and refreshments provided by G.L.I.P. sponsor, Brown-Forman.
