Be An Ambassador

The Ambassador program is one of the most distinctive features of the G.L.I.P. initiative. The program assigns one Ambassador for each country representing the international communities of our metro area.  These people will serve as G.L.I.P.’s “official go to person” for their country.  With G.L.I.P.’s support, Ambassadors will foster relationships with new members of the same country, serving as a trusted resource for immigrated professionals wanting to be engaged and connected with the community or jump start their career.

Ambassadors will maintain content on their respective Country Page of the G.L.I.P. website, which will contain current social, cultural and professional activities in the region pertaining to that country.  Functioning like a community page, it will also allow posting of articles, feature new members, promote volunteer opportunities and reference ethnic businesses like restaurants, food stores and churches to help international professionals become quickly acquainted with their new hometown.

G.L.I.P. Ambassadors are generally:

  • Established in the community
  • Residents of the city for at least a couple of years
  • Solidly connected with other organizations and professionals in town
  • Genuinely interested and have time to help others be as successful as they are
  • Comfortable sharing their knowledge and skills with other like-minded professionals
  • Dedicated to engaging other members of their country in person and online (some familiarity with social networks is a plus, not a requirement)
  • Willing to host dinners and smaller gatherings in an effort to connect all levels of professionals and executives in the international community
  • Able to keep information fresh and updated on their country page and encourage members of the country page to participate in discussion, forums, and share event information.
