G.L.I.P. offers international professionals and students access to a distinctive mentoring program that provides personal guidance and advice on the best paths to follow in becoming an active and involved member of the regional business community.
Through the mentorship of a local business leader, protégés can gain a better understanding of their professional options here in Greater Louisville as well as develop valuable relationships that will aid in their search for professional advancement, business opportunities and assimilation in the community. While mentors are not responsible for providing direct work training, placements or employment during the relationship, they will supply priceless insight into the work ethic and corporate culture associated with the protégé’s field of work.
Requirements for becoming a G.L.I.P. protégé include:
- Insight into the region’s attractions and quality of life
- Little or no U.S. work experience
- Proficient command of the English language—both written and oral
- Ability to commit to meeting with the mentor for a minimum of 12 hours over a six month period
- A positive attitude toward working and living in United States and a desire to make a difference in this community
