NEW ALBANY,
IN (April 15, 2010) – Indiana University Southeast is now offering the
Inclusive Leadership Certificate for business professionals interested in
improving the culture and environment of a workplace.
Offered through the Academy
for Leadership and Diversity in the School
of Continuing Studies,
the Inclusive Leadership Certificate is designed for business professionals in
leadership and management roles including HR and diversity directors, CEOs and
company presidents, and managers and division directors.
As business and other
aspects of community life are becoming increasingly diverse and globalized,
intercultural communication skills and cultural competency are essential. At
the core of the Inclusive Leadership Certificate is the gradual shift of focus
from diversity to inclusivity.
Most organizations understand the
benefits of a diverse workforce and are aware of their legal responsibilities
and obligations. However, many of those organizations struggle with maintaining
their diverse employee base due to non-inclusive organizational cultures.
The Inclusive Leadership Certificate
will help business leaders reduce turnover by improving employee relations,
boost recruitment by developing an inclusive culture, build effective teams and
improve productivity, and increase procurement with minority- and women-owned
businesses.
Inclusive Leadership Certificate
courses will be taught by local business and community leaders, and class
selections include Supplier Diversity, Conflict Resolution and Mediation,
Intercultural Communication, Hispanic Business and Culture, and Pathways to
Inclusion.
The program begins in May. More
information and registration instructions can be found online at www.ius.edu/noncredit or by calling
