RecoverCare relocating headquarters to Louisville

RecoverCare, a wound-care and bariatric equipment distributor, will move its corporate headquarters from Philadelphia to Louisville following its merger with Louisville's MedaSTAT USA.
The merged company will retain about 75 MedaSTAT jobs and add 57 jobs to the Louisville area. It stands to receive up to $2.3 million in state tax incentives for the relocation.

RecoverCare chief executive Mark Bidner said the company is poised for growth and could eventually add 18 to 50 more jobs in Louisville. Read more.

GLI seeks to recruit international business professionals

#Greater Louisville Inc., the metro chamber of commerce, has launched an initiative aimed at attracting top international business professionals.
Greater Louisville International Professionals, or G.L.I.P., will use social networking, mentorship programs and events to attract business professionals, entrepreneurs, college professors and professional recruiters who have moved to Louisville from foreign countries.

GLI hopes to capitalize on Louisville's rapidly growing immigrant population, which exceeds 53,000 people, according to a news release. About 33 percent of Louisville's foreign-born residents hold four-year college degrees. Read more.

Enterprise Corp. recognizes 'Hot Dozen'

#The Enterprise Corp., a division of Greater Louisville Inc., the metro chamber of commerce, has released its "2009 Hot Dozen" list of fast-growing, locally owned entrepreneurial companies.

The following businesses were recognized for their innovation and entrepreneurship efforts: Achieve CCA Inc., Hello Metro Inc., IMC Licensing, NaugaNeedles LLC, PGXL Laboratories, Planet Telecom, Stonestreet One LLC, SureGene LLC, The Corporate Playbook LLC, The Learning House Inc., TubeMaster Inc., and US WorldMeds LLC. Kemper Foods to expand, create 350 jobs

Kemper Foods International LLC, a New Albany maker of frozen foods for restaurants and retailers, plans to invest more than $6.8 million to expand its operations.
The company, which was founded in 2008, plans to create more than 350 jobs by 2012.
The company soon will begin hiring workers for production, supervisory, and clerical positions, according to a news release issued by the Indiana Economic Development Corp., the state's economic development agency.

Kemper Foods also plans to more than double the size of its 24,000-square-foot plant in New Albany's Park East Industrial Park. Read more.

GE to hire 45 engineers to support innovation, product development

#What a difference a year can make.
Just 12 months ago, workers at General Electric Co.'s Appliance Park in Louisville were wondering whether the company would sell, spin off, or create a joint venture for its appliance business, which was being battered by the beginning of the economic downturn and a slump in the housing market.

However, the company recently announced that it is looking to hire 45 design engineers to help develop new technologies at the company's Appliance Park research and development facility.
GE Appliances has mapped out a future that includes developing a suite of "smart" appliances. The company plans to invest $25 million to $30 million in the next three or four years to develop the smart appliances. Read more.

Mesa Foods plans to expand Louisville plant, add 35 jobs

It's been a busy 14 months at Mesa Foods Inc.

In September 2008, three food-industry veterans bought the company, which makes corn- and flour-based foods such as tortillas, taco shells, flat breads and pizza crusts.

Now, the new owners plan to expand production capacity, a project valued at $2.9 million.

The proposed project would add about 35 jobs to Mesa's current work force of 182, with an additional annual payroll of $1.35 million. Read more.

Energy consultant Fellon-McCord looks to add 40 employees

Fellon-McCord & Associates LLC, a Louisville-based energy-consulting business, plans to add at least 40 jobs in the next three years to keep up with growing demand for its advisory and management services.
The 17-year-old company, which currently has 60 employees, also is looking to more than double the amount of space that it leases in the Hurstbourne Green business park.

Company plans call for 20 jobs to be added in the next year. They would be a mix of analyst and management positions. Read more
