The past year was a big one for Louisville businesses, too. Media outlets talked about the innovations and the investments happening here along the Ohio River.
One of the biggest was the opening of the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, which was covered in such outlets as The Wall Street Journal, Southwest Spirit and The Chattanooga Times Free Press. The $32 million museum also received coverage abroad thanks to its deal with the Royal Armouries in Britain. That arrangement was featured in The Financial Times of London.
Downtown Louisville was mentioned prominently in the Feb. 16 edition of Meeting News. The magazine examined the $50 million renovation of the Galt House Hotel and construction of the $110 million Marriott and how both will help the Kentucky International Convention Center.
United Parcel Services' Jovita Carranza was named the Hispanic Business' Woman of the Year. She was among 25 women honored by the publication at its 25th anniversary celebration in New York.
She joined UPS in 1976 as a part-time hub clerk in Los Angeles. Today, she serves as the company's vice president for air operations in Louisville.
