ENTERPRISECORP Signature Event

Mayor Fischer and ENTERPRISECORP Lay Out Vision for Entrepreneurship


Entrepreneurship is driving job growth and prosperity in Greater Louisville! 

On Tuesday, April 12, GLI’s ENTERPRISECORP held its 2011 Signature Event, celebrating innovative, fast-growth companies in the region – and the business climate that helps them thrive.

Keynote speaker  Mayor Greg Fischer
discussed his vision for entrepreneurial growth in Louisville.

Additionally, the event recognized the newest companies selected to the High Impact Portfolio; announced the Vogt Invention and Innovation Award and presented the Innovation & Commercialization Center Client of the Year Award.

2011 Presentation of Awards:

Recognition of Newly Selected High Impact Companies -
 
Gazelle Companies: are at least four years old, have an annual growth rate of at least 20% for each of the last three years and have at least $1 million in annual revenues for the last three years with a positive operating profit.
 
Renaissance Companies: are at least ten years old… have been in a state of rapid growth of at least 10% within the last four years and are undergoing significant change in management or leadership structure: gaining a large new client, entering into a new market, or launching a new product or service.
 
• Enabling Companies: are strategically important companies that provide a vital product or service that has the proven ability to enable fast growth in other businesses.

Announcement of the Vogt Award Winners -One of the very last civic contributions Henry Vogt Heuser Sr. made to Louisville before his passing in 1999 was the creation of a $5 million endowment to inspire and support inventors and innovators.
 

Over the last 10 years, the Vogt Awards have invested more than $1.5 million into 19 companies. The selection process is rigorous as the award enables up to $250,000 in grant money to help get an invention or idea off the ground.

Presentation of the ICC Client of the Year Award - The selection for ICC Client of the Year is made based upon the company hitting one or more of the following milestones:
 
• Raising a significant round of funding or having a successful liquidity event
 
• Making a major technological breakthrough
 
• Hiring a large number of highly-skilled employees

2010 Signature Event Overview

The 2010 event featured a presentation on the 2010 State of Entrepreneurship Report. The report highlights what has happened in the Greater Louisville region over the last five years and makes recommendations as to what strategically needs to occur over the next five.
