Plan to focus on economic and community development strategies for the region
Louisville, Ky. (September 3, 2013) – Greater Louisville Inc. announced the name and business leadership team for the new economic and community development plan process. Advantage Louisville will be the most comprehensive planning undertaken since the 1997 Boyle Report, and will ensure the community is focused on the right priorities and competitive strategies for the future. The plan, which complements Mayor’s Fischer’s 25-year Visioning effort, will focus on immediate opportunities for job creation and economic growth.
“This new plan is critically important because Louisville is at important crossroads,” said Craig Richard, president & CEO of GLI. “Over the past ten years, the region has made some significant strides. However, despite gains, it is simply not keeping pace with its competitor cities in creating high-paying jobs, increasing personal income levels and positioning us for success in a 21st century economy.”
GLI has partnered with Market Street Services, an experienced economic development consulting firm, to facilitate the strategic planning process. Market Street has completed similar plans for cities such as Austin, Nashville and Des Moines. The entire process will take about six months and upon completion, will include a defined set of specific priorities and goals for GLI’s next five years. The plan will include strategies for business expansion and attraction; attracting talent and improving the regions’ workforce; attracting talent; and increasing exports; and growing foreign direct investment. read more...
