From now until September 30, EnterpriseCorp and The Community Foundation of Louisville are accepting entries for the 2011/2012 Vogt Awards. Intended to recognize excellence in product innovation and inspire inventors to see their ideas reach full potential, the Vogt Awards provide up to $250,000 annually in grants.

That means, bring your idea to the table and take your chances at receiving the funding to take it to the next level!

Since its beginning in 2001, the Vogt Awards have given more than $1.9 million in awards to 27 early stage companies.

One of last year’s Vogt Award winners, Techshot Lighting LLC, is the intrapreneurial start-up of Techshot Inc. The innovative company specializes in LED lighting products. The $75,000 award they received last year was integral in their new flagship product, presently being used to light the tents of troops in Afghanistan.

The award is made possible by an endowment from Henry Vogt Heuser Sr., former president of Henry Vogt Machine Company. The award memorializes Vogt’s entrepreneurial ingenuity by providing others with grant money to fund the product development and commercialization of their ideas.

Recipients are selected based upon their concept’s merits of innovation, technical excellence, strategic business planning, competitive positioning, potential market value, time to market, and anticipated social/economic benefits for the Greater Louisville area.
