Over the course of the recent economic recession, GLI and our partners made a bold decision not to pull back our economic development efforts,
but to increase them. A proactive and targeted focus on attracting new business headquarters, helping existing businesses expand in new-economy areas, continuing our support for traditional industries and identifying new sectors for investment has proven successful.
During the past two years, in spite of the economic downturn, GLI's economic development team has helped more than 100 companies stay here, move here, build here or grow here. One of the highlights of our efforts is the high average salary the projects we've worked on have created. Our focus on average salary is part of our commitment to attracting high quality jobs that improve the quality of life for individuals across Greater Louisville.
To ensure that we have the educated workforce needed to attract and retain knowledge -economy jobs, our economic development efforts include educational attainment, inclusion initiatives and proactive talent attraction and talent retention strategies.
