  • Pharmacy Supply Chain

  • Louisville will be a national leader in pharmaceutical fulfillment and distribution as the industry redefines itself.  With firms seeking to serve larger markets through new models Louisville is especially well positioned to provide value to the industry through a strong talent base, unique infrastructure and a favorable regulatory environment.

TALENT – Despite a national shortage of pharmacists, Louisville can guarantee a full pipeline of talent for pharmaceutical fulfillment.  The University of Kentucky  is continually ranked as one of the top five pharmacy schools in the country and its graduates and research are widely available to firms in the Louisville market.  Additionally, the newly formed Sullivan College of Pharmacy  graduates approximately 100 new pharmacists each year.  Additionally, with the headquarters of PharMerica , US WorldMeds  and SimplifyRX   the community is a hub for pharmaceutical management.

INFRASTRUCTURE – As pharmaceutical companies seek to extend their reach directly to customers, Louisville’s unique infrastructure allows them to achieve new levels of service.  UPS’ Louisville-based air hub can reach 80% of the world population within 48 hours and with late night pick up options at local facilities, fulfilled orders can often reach customers within hours of being packed.

REGULATION – Greater Louisville Inc. works with the Kentucky pharmacy board to insure that our local regulations are conducive to the future of the industry.  We seek to work with companies interested in the area to understand their regulatory needs and act proactively.
