2/7/2012 03:09:08 PM

Louisville, Ky. (2/7/12)– Greater Louisville Inc. – The Metro Chamber of Commerce announces the winner of its prestigious Silver Fleur-De-Lis Award, to be delivered at GLI’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 20. The award recognizes outstanding commitments and achievements in the Greater Louisville community and is bestowed upon an individual that shows leadership and action to make the region a better place to live and work.

This description epitomizes Christine Johnson’s work both at Leadership Louisville and in the community-at-large. Johnson was critical to the establishment of such treasured programs as Ignite Louisville and the Bingham Fellows, which have turned out countless community leaders.

Johnson was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 by the Center for Non-Profit Excellence, named 2010 Communicator of the Year by the local IABC/PRSA chapters and was recognized for service at Presentation Academy’s 2010 Tower Awards for Women Leaders. Johnson was also named by Louisville Magazine as one of the city’s 15 most powerful women in 2007 and installed into the Presbyterian Community Center’s Hall of Fame.

As for this accolade, “it’s a wonderful honor to be recognized by GLI for what I love to do – work to make Louisville a better community for everyone. There’s an exciting buzz in the city right now and I’m so proud to be a part of building leadership throughout the region” said Johnson.

The Silver Fleur-De-Lis awards will be presented at GLI’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center.
In addition to the awards, the evening will feature keynote speaker Jeffrey Immelt, GE Chairman and CEO, who will discuss the importance of reinvesting in US manufacturing and GE in the Greater Louisville region.
