Economic Development Incentives Approved for Four Companies Considering Job Growth in Louisville

 Four companies considering Louisville for expansions or new locations were preliminarily approved for economic development incentives at this morning’s meeting of the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in Frankfort, Ky. The projects could create 300 new jobs, $12 million in new annual payroll and $32.3 million in new investment.

“This month’s applicants demonstrate the confidence that Louisville businesses have in our community, with several companies wanting to expand their operations here, as well as companies looking at Louisville and Kentucky for the first time,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “New jobs and investment in industries from green products to bourbon production to traditional manufacturing will be a boost for the businesses as well as Louisville residents and visitors.”

Greater Louisville Inc. Accepting Nominations for Inc.credible Awards(1)

Greater Louisville Inc. – the Metro Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2012 Inc.credible Awards now until May 25, 2012.

The Inc.credible Awards recognize small businesses that are spurring the Greater Louisville region to grow, innovate and thrive. Winners in eight categories will be announced at the 2012 Celebration of Small Business event, taking place Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Galt House.

Nominations can be made by visiting www.greaterlouisville.com/inccrediblenom. Nominees must be businesses of less than 100 employees, locally-owned and operated in the Louisville region. They must have been in business prior to January 1, 2009 and not have received an Inc.credible Award in the last three years. Nominees do not have to be a GLI member and self-nominations are welcomed.

Vogt Award Winners Announced

EnterpriseCorp, the enterprise development arm of Greater Louisville Inc., and The Community Foundation of Louisville announced the 2012 Vogt award recipients today in a press conference at the Henry Vogt Building of the J.B. Speed School of Engineering.

Intended to recognize excellence in product innovation and inspire inventors to see their ideas reach full potential, the Vogt Awards provide up to $250,000 annually in grants.

Recipients are selected by a 12-person committee, chaired by Ty Adams, Managing Director of Adams: Kinkade Design, LLC, based upon their concept’s merits of innovation, technical excellence, strategic business planning, competitive positioning, potential market value, time to market, and anticipated social/economic benefits for the Greater Louisville area.

Greater Louisville Inc. – The Metro Chamber of Commerce announced today that GE Chairman and CEO, Jeff Immelt will be the keynote speaker at its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
