We define inclusion as an attitude where all businesses are embraced and afforded the opportunity to participate in the marketplace of commerce and ideas.
GLI works to represent all types of businesses – large and small, minority- and women-owned and those located throughout the entire region. GLI makes every effort to ‘walk the talk’ when it comes to focusing on economic inclusion in our daily practices and policies.
By embracing new ideas, promoting collaboration, developing partnerships and initiating new ways of thinking, GLI works to ensure that inclusion is more than just a word, but a philosophy that ensures that all individuals in the Greater Louisville footprint are extended every opportunity to succeed.
Why? We have three primary motives for focusing on inclusion:
- Our focus on economic inclusion is based on the belief that the challenges and opportunities facing our region can’t be handled alone by any one sector of the community. All of us need all of us.
- We will be successful only if we can attract and retain a robust and ‘diverse’ talent pool to this region. Research solidifies that inclusion matters when it comes to talent attraction.
- We compete in an ever-changing global marketplace. Regions that are growing throughout the world are those that embrace diversity and inclusion.
At GLI, we focus on inclusion by:
- Ensuring that our board and staff are reflective of the region.
- Ensuring that our suppliers and vendors are reflective of the region.
- Ensuring that our members and clients are reflective of the region.
- Throwing the doors of our organization wide open and inviting anyone who shares our mission to engage.
